Fr. Chapin Engler

Assistant Pastor

 

     Father Chapin was born June 30th, 1962 in

Evanston, Illinois the third child of John &

Peggy Engler. He has two brothers and one

sister. At age six he moved to Darien,Connecticut.

At age 10 he moved to Charlotte,

North Carolina where his family remains

today. In 1980 he graduated from Charlotte

Catholic High and in 1985 he graduated from

the University of Notre Dame. His first year

out of college he held five or six jobs ranging

from selling cufflinks at Marshall Fields in

Chicago to fine wines over the phone. Over

the next five years Father Chapin sold personnel

services on the Chicago Board of Trade,

Burlap Sheets to North Carolina Tobacco

Farmers, Hotdogs and Bacon for Armor Meat

Company for Publix Groceries in Florida,

Sales Rep for Food Lion Grocery Stores,

Freight Forwarding for Danzas International

until he became a stockbroker for Pane

Webber at the age of 29. By the age of 35

Father Chapin was working for Merrill Lynch

and he left his job to go into seminary. He

graduated from Saint Vincent in Latrobe with

a Masters in Divinity and finished up his

seminary formation at Saint Charles

Borromeo in Philadelphia. Father Chapin was

ordained a Deacon for our Diocese May 20th

in Charleston at Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral.

Most recently, June 2, 2007 he was ordained a

priest and has been assigned by Bishop

Bransfield to St. Francis in Beckley.
