Overview

INTRODUCTION

The Saint Francis de Sales Montessori Pre-School was established in Beckley, WV in 1996, as a non-profit organization. It is open to any child without regard to race, creed, color or national origin and is committed to providing excellent education for children from diverse back grounds. Our child-centered school, with professionally trained staff and a carefully prepared classroom, promotes joy in learning and positive character development of self-motivation, helping each chilled reach his/her true potential. Our Montessori Directress received her training and certification from the Association Montessori International Good shepherd Maria Montessori Training Center in Sri Lanka. She has been working in Beckley with pre-school children in Montessori prepared environments since 1981.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Saint Francis de Sales Montessori Pre-School’s mission is to inspire academic excellence, nurture curiosity, creativity, and independence, and to awaken the human spirit.

PHILOSOPHY

The Saint Francis de Sales Montessori Pre-School’s curriculum implements the Montessori philosophy and methodology at the pre-school level. The classroom environment stimulates intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and cultural growth. The school promotes the development of self-motivation, independence, curiosity, cooperation and respect for others within the framework of a strong academic program.

PARENT PARTICIPATION

As a part of your continuing growth as a “Montessori Parent” and in order to more fully what your child’s daily life includes, parents are expected to make a classroom observations at least once a year. The classroom is open for observation from October through mid-May. Please make appointments through the church office and plan to spend a few minutes before and after to discuss procedures and the actual observation.
